take one spark plug out the front rotor and listen for a even rythm as you turn it over (remove egi/fuel pump fuese before doing). repeat again for the rear rotor.

If they all sound even then your compression is more than likely fine.

I would say oil control ring but smoke is too general to determine. Especially weither it's before or after the turbos.

Sesshoumaru 11-29-04 10:42 PM

disconnect battery

hold brake for 30 sec

the deed should be done.

but realistically unplug it and let sit for 30 min.

My FD will range anywhere from 20 sec to 4 min of brake pressing to reset that F@!#k thing (i could tell due to the trip not resetting and check engine light)

Xeros 11-29-04 10:52 PM

No luck weith the ECU reset
I'm just gunna have to take off the entire UIM and inspect. I dunno anyone else out there have any bright insight or ideas?

You flooded your car, and that is why your having a tough time starting it, could also explain the smoke you are seeing and backfiring. Take your plugs out and check if they are fouled if so replace them. While the plugs are out deflood your car by cranking it and also listen to the compression to see if it is solid. You could also get a compression tester and test it that way. After that put a couple squirts of atf fluid, and install your plugs. Also as others have mentioned there are two nipples in the back of the intake manifold, look at the vacuum diagram to insure it is plugged in the right one, I too have placed that vacuum hose on a wrong nipple once.

Xeros 11-30-04 02:55 PM

its on the right nipple for sure. I think my MAP sensor is fouled up. Okay well from what I can tell the MAP sensor is jussssst fine. I took the UIM off checked the nipples and everything. They are juuuuuuust fine tooo. My compression sounds juuuuust fine as well. Anyone in the milwaukee region live by Mequon wanna stop by and swap MAP sensors for a second? HAHA. No but seriously....I'm running out of Ideas from what I can tell everything is connected perfectly. and everything is sitting juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust fine. I am sooooo confused!

Xeros 11-30-04 03:00 PM

No its not flooded either.

Your wallet will be a bit thinner.

Ok, after reading many posts like this... there seems to be a fine balance between saving money and saving your sanity. It's times like this where paying somebody else to trouble shoot doesn't seems like such a bad idea after all. I mean, learn what you can by trying to do it yourself. Almost anything you break, they can fix... so go ahead and try to fix it... but when you've reached the limits of your sanity, and you are pulling out your hair, then just fork over the mean green and tell them (best tuner you can find in your area) to fix it and remeber what they say when they tell you what exactly went wrong. Alot more Simple eh? Never said it would be cheap but I'ts definitely the easy way out.

I don't know if there are any good rotary shops near him. Its not like they are everywhere. I know I'd basically never bring my car to a mechanic unless I had been searching on this forum for months with no success or if I had a good rotary shop nearby.

djfamousa 11-30-04 06:31 PM

Damn, you're right. I forget how living in Los Angeles can spoil a person into thinking that people all over the country would have as many resources available to them. Doh!

Yeah you spoiled sack of rotary crap :)

Xeros 11-30-04 07:19 PM

Lets say the two front grren solenoids were to oh say break...but just one of the nipples....Woudl this cause this type of problem????

rex u.k 12-01-04 12:51 PM

I can't believe all this bullshit. After three pages of posts nobody has told you that your TPS is not set dorrectly, it's the only thing you've messed with and it's out of frame.
The loud pop was fuel igniting whilst the cars been trying to start with an incorrectly set TPS.
Sort it out lad and stop going mad.

lopedl 12-01-04 04:01 PM

even with the tps out of whack, unless it was broken, I don't see it as a reason the car is not starting.

Sorry bro, I hope everything works out for you.

Xeros 12-02-04 10:59 PM

Oh I guess I never did post it. Yeah it was the dual solenoid in front of the UIM. one of the nipple swas broken off I patched it up and its doing fine now. And my TPS was adjusted each time I took the throttle body off. I always make sure its adjusted properly when I take it off and put it back on.

lopedl 12-03-04 03:03 PM

cool man, sound like it was an easy fix, congratulations!

speeddemon7 12-03-04 04:32 PM

Good to hear your cars fine now.So it was the wastegate and precontrol solenoid that was screwed up? Wow I wouldnt have thought to look there.
