Ok, i live in WA, and the car is in CALI, he wants 5750 shipped for it, 68k, salvaged title, the guy sellin it is on the forum, but i don't rememeber his user name, he is the story on the car

he bought the car for 14k thought it was clean, didn't get a carfax, a couple weeks later, the engine blew, he got a carfax and found out it was salvaged, the temp gauge was high when he looked at it, but it has already overheated enough and the motor blew, he checked the radiator and overflow later and there was no coolant. he tried to get a hold of the guy he bought it from but the phone number's he had were disconnected, he got screwed, he says his guy wants between 3k-5k to fix it, so he rather sell it and get a little money back rather than spending 17k-19k for that car. he says the turbo's are fine and the tranny is fine.

Now, i wanted to buy the car and drop in a new motor, but i don't know if its a good idea buying a car that doesn't run, but some people are liars, i mean this guy has been cool, but you never know, my dad has been screwed over before, i haven't had a chance to go look at it, but i got some pictures, but their really isn't any way of knowing if it has any other problems, since it doesn't run,

i just don't want ot get screwed, lose my money, and end up with no car and have to have my mom drop me off at school durring my senior year of high school.

I'd say that this is a pretty good deal. I remember when Tad was having his car problems... I'm fairly certain all it needs is a good rebuild. If you have the time and patience, you should buy it. While the engine's out, this'll be a good opportunity to put high quality hoses in the car and fix all the little nuances our cars seem to have. You'll be getting a nice 3rd gen with a brand new street ported engine for under 10k. I think most people on the forum would agree that it's more economical to get a blown 3rd gen and have it rebuilt.

The only problem you may run into is the fact that it is considered a salvaged vehicle. Finding insurance for salvaged vehicles is kind of hard/expensive. Try to find out more information on the salvage title/frame damage, etc etc.

That's a steal to have it shipped and everything. I've seen some go on ebay for $7000, not shipped.

Yeah... i was thinking the same exact thing hks, without transportation costs...thats only like 4.5 - 5k....and itd be great for a parts car at the very least. I just dont see my insurance goin down any if I owned 2 FDs :p

he said the body and frame looks/drives straight, there is a place down here called pinnaple racing im planning on them doing my rebuild. i don't know how i can find out about the salvage title, Tad doesn't know and he can't get a hold of the guy he bought it from, i got a car fax. but i don't think i saw anything on it about an accident, but maybe im wrong.

Car Fax is easily circumvented by the riff-raff that do salvage rebuilds. That's why wrecked cars that shouldn't be on the road get rebuilt and sold for a tidy sum. You must have this car examined by a good body shop. They can easily point out the repairs and tell you whether or not the car is any good. Don't end up like my obsessive-compulsive friend who bought a '93 VR R1 that has bent spars comin' thru the firewall and a bent engine cradle sub-frame. It's essentially terminal damage but can be repaired for about $4500. Guess what? The poor bastard paid $10K and borrowed every cent of it. Never mind that he's a cop, he was had and now he has to live w/ it................

.... I've been hanging around an auto body shop to learn about the repair business (anesthesia is my job), and it's fascinating to see how vehicles are rebuilt. FD's do not take hits or running off the road into ditches and over tree saplings well at all. Neither do Mustangs, Camaros, Crown Vics, but FD's get bent up all over from what I've seen.
