i could do that rather easily actually, being married in the military to another service member we rate about 16,000lbs of shipping back to the states. Our house hold goods is only about 3,000lbs and i expect us to have about 5,000lbs by the time we leave here. That leaves 11,000lbs of anything non hazardous to bring back. the only problem is finding a junk yard out here. most cars are just crushed and dumped

Be ready to spend more once you get it back in the states. I have spent the price I paid for the car in the last 13 years. Gotta love the car thogh, it is a classic.

Man, just looked at the pics and was expecting a beater...very nice. I have one off the wall questions....how does it feel to going from the left hand seating position to the right? Especially shifting with your left hand now.

i thought that it would be wierd but it really isn't, shifting that is. The driving on the oppisite side though takes some getting used to. Especially on base, where there isn't always oncoming traffic, i find myself not paying attention and i will turn into the right lane from a stop sign and not notice until there is an oncoming car and i am like O **** and i swerve back into the left lane lol.

i have decided that i am not going to bring this RX7 because it has about 60k miles on it already. I told my wife though that if i find a 2002 spirit R that she can expect me to take it home no matter the cost! lol we will see how that goes when and if the time comes.

60k already? It's 16 years old... the average would be 120+. 60 it's just broken in.

I think your passing up a steal.

has it had an overhaul of the engine yet? How long you in Japan for?

Can you pull parts from the junkyard that were 99 spec specific(y-pipe, turbos, etc) and just bring them with you back to the states on a plane? What would a used set of 99 spec twins go for? A few hundred?
dreaming mate, only 99spec twins that go that cheap are the ones you need to spend an extra 1000dollars rebuilding.

You need to put that bad-boy on a plane and bring it back with you. You said you had 11,000 lbs of cargo room to spare. Put it in the overhead compartment of a Globemaster...it would be considered carry-on at 3000lbs.

it has had the engine checked out at Makers, a shop that deals just with 7's between here and hiroshima, everything tested good. Both turbos and all working as they should, it was a 180point inspection everything clean.

there are only minor things wrong like the A/C needs to be charged, the back wiper and defrost don't work and it needs to be tuned. all this should be fixed in about 2 weeks, i will also get an oil change new o2 sensors, alignment, 50,000mile tune-up and then get it tuned at makers

what kind of problems were you having? Mines a '92, with 80k miles, and no serious work has ever been done to it.

You couldn't bring it back to the states even if you wanted to. Don't even bother looking for a Spirit-R unless you're just planning on driving it in Japan. The topic has been covered numerous times; it is always either impossible or illegal to get one over here.

the early model rx7 had a few issues and some had to have recalls. Nothing is really wrong with the 1992, 1993 S1 FD, but Mazda began correcting a few potential problems from late 93 S1 JDM r2 onwards, such as an ungraded dash that doesnt peel, different radiator fan position for better cooling, etc.

how about some suspension mods to help the handling more. Does it still have stock suspension? The suspension is bound to be extremely worn out after 15 years. This is where i would concentrate.

Im looking forward to a cruise in the warmer months. If your coming to Okayama anytime soon, send me a pm.
