Should all FD's have a gas filter on their press. sensor?

Should all FD's have a gas filter on their press. sensor?
If you look on the vac. hose diagram there is a gas filter connected to the press. sensor. What does it do? After doing the hose job I noticed that I don't have one of these filters. I wonder if Pettit removed mine or is this the reason why I'm not getting any boost?
