i dont know why people says it doesnt shorten the throws. the stock shifter is like rowing a boat.

shortshifter is prolly the easiest/cheaper mods you can do while smoking a cigarette.

agreed. i have a c's shifter sitting in a box but i havent bothered to install it yet. i have a miata, and if it mimics the feel of the miata gearbox then ill be extreemly pleased. ive got to say, the stock miata gearbox is absolutely a dream to click through... its like a little go cart. in many ways i actually prefer the miata to the FD for the "fun-factor" (flame away). anyway, i agree.... the miata gearbox is crisp, short, doesnt take much force, and is easy to use. in comparison the FD box is sluggish and sloppy. if a short shifter helps give it some more "crispness" im all in favor. -heath

well compared to other cars, (viper, vette, stang) the FD is like a short throw LOL those other cars are literally rowing a boat hahaha

so why do people say barely? i really want to go back to a SS, i mean i love how short the throws were, i just hated the stupid flaws that came with one..i want to buy a RE which someone is selling on this forum but wanted some input first..ill prob buy it off him if he still has it in a week or so..

a short shifter is mainly to improve missed shifts, not so much speed. unless your driving a truck or somethign that has the long shifter going to the floor boards.

I have the RE short shifter. its one of the first few mods i made in the first month of purchasing the car. The throw is only slight noticeably shorter, i'd say maybe around 15% shorter. But i the feel is definitly very close to stock. Very sturdy and never got stuck or felt notchy.
never tested or timed it to see if it really increase shifting speed... but i like it... I would probably only recommend the RE, C's, and Mazdaspeed. (which are all relatively similar) anyone?
