Shooting flames is normal but does it mean running rich?

ok does shooting flames mean ur running rich? i know its normal to shoot flames. when im at WOT till high rpm my EGT is too hot. its over 900 celsius. which means im running alittle on the lean side. ne ways getting a single turbo and power fc just wanted to know for myself.
