i thought oem fd door handles were all matte black? or were there years with a clearcoat/shiny looking door handles? mine are shiny and i dont think they've been repainted. the glossy paint is even on portions of the back.

maybe brilliant black cars had these handles?

 

I'm pretty sure they're all black and shiney...

Even on mine with 120k miles, they are pretty shiney...

Unless maybe the 94-95 came with the matte color. Mine's a 93.

Hmmm, my 93 MB touring handles = shiny. A friend of mine has a 93 VR base and they are matte. Another has a 94 VR PEP and they are shiny. There must be a pattern to this...

 

maybe we have this figured out-- peps/touring have the shiny handles. anyone else? bc mine is a pep 94 with shiny. good info rxcetera

could different rex's that were manufactured in different states? countries possibly have a difference in door handle paint???

that would explain how some of the same models are different paint, maybe one was manufactured in a different place!

just a thought, not even sure what states mazda had factories in...

 

All 3rd gen's were manufactured in japan and shipped to north america

 

mines matte, but now there carbon covered. i got that ebay carbon covers and I realy like it!!

its an odd car really, i have the r1 suspension, but i have all the touring options expect for rear windshield wiper. I however dont know if i had the bose or not cause when i got the car the stereo was missing and the rear hatch all the pieces were missing so i had to hunt each piece down.. lol I guess I could have a modded base or r1 heck I dunno.. I like my moonroof tho! :-)

 

Or maybe if you aren't they original owner, they may have been shiny? Mine are shiny with scratches! HAHA!

 

I bought a new door handle from Ray and it came in a matte finish. My original door handles are more matte than anything. I figured they were all matte

For me: 93 MBM Touring = Matte
93 BB R1 = Shiney

 

I feel bad for the guy that realizes his drivers handle is matte and his passengers is shiny after this...

 

My 93 VR R1 door handles are shiny.

 

This just makes me glad that I'm bypassing the whole thing and getting aluminum handles.
