shifter jolting?

ive thought of this to be normal but i donno just checking...when i apply gas to the car the shifting, in any gear, snaps forward about 1cm..i can literally let off the gas and reapply the gas over and over and feel the shifter move foward and back 1cm in a snapping motion..the only other odd this is i hear a very light tick sounds like its coming from the rear of the car when i let off the gas after any sort of boost and when the shifter is in 5th gear (i have some wear on the synchro) and i approach 90mph the shifter starts to rattle but if i nudge it forward and hold it there the rattle goes away...maybe the tranny is misalligned or bad motormounts?

It's possible that your motor mounts or differential mounts are damaged. Also possible that you need new bushings in your shifter.

What about the PTU, or whatever that brace from your tranny to your diff is called. Power transfer unit, or something like that, I cant remember. But it breaks all the time, usually at the diff, and will make the shifter move around. If it cracks at the mounting flange, like they usually do, it may click in the back. If it is broken you need to re-weld it. Theres at least one guy I know of on the forum who reinforced his and it worked really good, and Mazdaspees makes one, but I think its only like 15% stiffer or something, it jst usues a better metal, but all the same dimensions and whatnot.

The Mazdaspeed PPF is 15% stiffer, but much stronger.

If the mounts and shifter bushing look good, the PPF is the next place to consider.

Hmmm... Maybe I need to check this out, I have noticed a click when going over bumps recently.

hmm, doesnt sound fun...how do i know if its my diff mounts w/o paying to get it up on a lift? could it be universal joint or something like that? the car launches perfectly its just when i apply and reapply throttle the shifter moves slightly...the ticking sound is like a mouse button click that occurs right at the release of the gas after boost around 5psi or more...also when my car is in neutral and i am sitting still, when i rev the car is shakes a bit like a muscle car would...is this common or is this an indication of mount problems?
