Service in Kansas City
I am in Dallas and have found a 3rd Generation RX-7 in Kansas City that I might buy. Does anyone know a reputable mechanic in Kansas City that could do a comprehensive check on it for me (for a fee) before I come up there? Thanks
You can just take it to a Mazda dealership and have them do a compression check on it.
That's about the most you'll get out of mechanics around here, but that's decent enough. If you post or PM me the info about the car, I might be able to swing by and take a look at it.

I'd be happy to check out the car for you as well. Is the car being sold through a dealer or a private seller? If it's a private seller who's the owner. There's one place in town you could take the car too but they're usually pretty booked. Like Majik said, about the best you can do to check out the engine is to check the compression and boost patterns. A Mazda dealership can do the compression test (expect to pay about $180 for the test). If the car has a boost gauge installed you can check the boost pattern yourself on the test drive. Give us some details and maybe we can help you out even more by checking it out in person for you like Majik offered.
You could go to the Rotary Doctor down by Springfield. I've heard that he is an awesome mechanic and knows tons of **** about these cars. He is more of a stock car kind of guy, not much for Single Turbos and Haltech ECU's and such.
