Selling 13b Questions
Hey guys, I’m going to be selling my 13b out of my FD here soon. It’s in the car as of now and runs perfect. Aside from compression numbers and mileage what are other pieces of information I can get from it while it’s still in and running? Also what’s the average price for a 13b given the compression numbers are good. Thanks!

You want GOOD compression numbers from a real rotary compression tester, not a piston tester or something.
Can't help on price, it's always hard to sell used engines and also shipping them is a pain so that becomes an issue.
The more documentation you can provide on the engine the better.

I can't give you much advice on pricing, as from what I've seen on the market lately prices for used motors are all over the place and they don't seem to follow the normal supply & demand economics theory anymore.
But as far as marketing your used motor, the more good & credible documented evidence you have to assure the buyer of what he's getting into, the better off you'll be. I'd recommend the following:
- Dated video/photos of compression test results of both rotors using a proper rotary engine tester (e.g., RCT 5.2 or the actual Mazda tester), to include notes on ambient test conditions (e.g.. coolant temps when tested). Make sure that when you test the throttle is wide open, and test with a fresh/charged battery
- Before yanking the motor out, get a video with sound of the car doing: (a) Cold start up; (b) Hot start up; (c) Idling when warm & revving up to at least 5K in neutral and lifting off the gas - get a view of the exhaust while doing that (buyer will want to look for signs of oil or coolant smoke while doing that). And if the car is still road worthy, a video of it driving around or doing a 3rd gear pull or two wouldn't hurt either.

Great info, thank you so much guys. I do have the rotary compression tester that were all familiar with, and I appreciate the tips on hot/cold starts and view of the exhaust I didn’t think of that. It runs strong without issue, but all the other information you guys suggested will help solidify that or prove it to be wrong 😂

Also take 5 minutes and clean the outside of the motor. It always kills me when someone tries to sell something expensive and can't take the time to get the dirt and crap off of it.
