slow.... and cheap.... where do you get cheap from? new these cars were 35-40k +..... and that was 10 years ago!! and slow.... how slow is your car? whats your 1/4 time? u may have problems if its slow.

all your friends sound like a buch of spoied little bitches living off their rich parents. (sorry, i was deprived as a child...) be pround that you have an rx7 instead of a beemer or benz, the m3's may be a little faster than you now, but after after a few mods, you will wax his ***... your car is becomming more and more rare everyday... i see beemers and **** like that all day long. where i live, there is only 1 other person in at least a 50mile radius that has a 3rd gen rx7... makes me feel special

as far as engine mods, your list is all wrong, serch in the archived 3rd gen threads, you will find many useful posts on which mods to do 1st, 2nd, and so on... also you can find reliability mods to keep your car running good. sounds like you have a nice car but you need to know how to take care of it. rotary engines can be very tempermental sometimes.

Not to back anyone's side in this little argument we have going here.

BUT IN GENERAL, you must remember a drag car is all about launch. American V8s with some nice slicks are known for cutting LOW 60 foots when properly driven. Look at every 10 and 9 sec. 5.0 Mustang out there (and we all know there are a lot). They are all launching hard, pulling LOW 60 foots and in some instances wheel stands, but not trapping that high.

With a monster launch it doesn't take big HP to nail such times. These cars are usually geared strictly for the 1/4 too. Hence, you'll see them running a 10 sec. pass but only trapping in the low 120s. Because they rely on the launch, not the top end pull.

We all know the launch and 60 foot are key to a low 1/4 time. Take Rikki for example, he was cutting around 1.7 60 foot and running 11.7s and only trapping around 116-118 in his FD

again its all in the launch. I am not "defending" anyone here. Just saying its possible. Just bringing up some tid-bits of info.

With an FD its different, you can't just throw some monster slicks on one and go out and have a ball. And given the power/torque curve of a heavily modded FD nailing such 60 foot times is MUCH harder to do and takes great skill.

HOWEVER, the 0-60 times and 1/4 times of this SS clearly don't logistically line up with the factors I integrated into the "equation". It would take a very good 60-foot time, which equates to a very low 0-60 time to nail a 10.23 in an SS with that amount of power. Thus, a 4.1 0-60 and a 10.23 1/4, and a 600HP SS don't go together.

And as pointed out earlier, the Skyline is an rb26dett or rb26det.

Plano RX7...

sorry that this is turning into a flamage but alot of people are very passionate about these cars. You can make them go very fast but most people are tired of answering the same questions over and over.

The answers you want will be harder to find in the magazines you want....

If you are talking about mods...really check the "stickies" at the top of the 3rd gen section....how much money do you have to spend?

I would first make sure you have some of the reliability mods done...then do the standard
1) downpipe
2) cat back
3) intercooler and new ECU at the same time....that will run you at least $2700 probably, for items 1-3
( you should upgrade the ECU if you get a new intercooler)

about rims...not alot of people run 19" plus they are heavy...if you are planning to drag alot you need more side walls for the hole shot...search on the forum and you can find what has been successful for different people and there set ups....

If you want to weave...it seems like 17's for weight or 18x10 for grip is the way to go...

Like it has been said this is all knowledge that has been asked before...just do a search.

Probably doesn't even own one. Brand new engine doing 120mph? Have fun with that. Before you even think about wheels/bodykit... flashy s**t in general do a search for reliability mods and do those first.

and best of yet... those are free!

Good luck nOOb.

There should be an age limit on this car. At the risk of offending the thousands of high schoolers who own this car to drive fast, kill people, and destroy engines... here is how it should be.

You have to be 18 to smoke, buy ****, and die for your country (because if you were younger there would be none left for me)

You have to be 21 to drink and own an FD.

If you get busted doing any of the above before the legally required age, they should send you Texas to spend all of eternity with the stupidass who started this thread.

Sell your car - even to your little sister - just get it out of your hands. You are going to destroy someone elses dream by destroying this car.

Ive been driving since i was 13. I learned to drive on a 600hp supercharged 98 SS camaro running 4.1 -- 0-60's and 10.23 1/4.... North texas is all about this ****. Cops cant do anything about it cause if they cant catch us nothing happens. But we screwed when they do cause they have changed the misdameaners in the state due to north texas
Hey is there anyway you can post some pics of your brother's motor. BTW: it doesn't really matter how fast your car is sweetie, first you have to learn how to handle it! You might have learned on a "600hp supercharged 98 SS camaro that ran 4.1" but an rx7 is very different. I might not being able to beat you in a straight course but I couldn't beat your *** any other time!!! It's all about knowing your car!!!! Plus when you drag a car you are going in a straight line, if you plan on weaving in out of traffic obviously it's not gonna be so easy! I'll give it one month before you total your car, people like you shouldn't even have the privilege of owning such an AWESOME car! How can you even judge a rx7 to a 330ci, that's a bitch car! Oh and before you post again maybe you should do some research and get to studying because you seem like you don't know **** about rx7's!!!!!!

Yikes Nicole, that's pretty harsh! I seem to remember you totalling an fd not too terribly long ago. Why don't you give the kid a break? We were all young and dumb once, weren't we?

Chaste94 , I'm 16 and I own an FD, but even I think this kid is a douche bag. People like him should never get the priveledge of even driving an FD. Any one that could possibly be ashamed of owning one of these cars should be dragged into the street and shot. LOL, I think this post was just to get us all heated up, it was interesting though

why ditch the 19inch rims? Riding spinners will help him sh1ft m@d q!ck y0!!!

93rx7planowest turn the badass attitude down, not to mention look @ the # of posts the ppl have that are telling you to read the newbie links....they might be on to something because you ARE new to this forum, which in turn means you have no idea what kind of information and helpful tips u can learn from this site. Not to mention 600hp will not land u 10sec quarters in a F-body. And unless you were one helluva big 13 year old, its highly doubtful u could even manipulate that racing clutch needed to handle 600hp.

Read the newbie links and learn some stuff before challenging the forum

By an intake, full exhaust, and hell, even an intercooler. Run the stock ecu, no boost control, blow the engine and sell it to someone who wants it and knows what they are doing.

i am also 16 years old and drive an FD...i bought it last year and have $800 left to pay off. I have the ut-most respect for this car, and this forum. I spent the first three months just RESEARCHING this forum before i even went out to look into buying one. I learned my own limits and the car's limits before even attempting to get on it. Having a badass attitude will only get u killed and the car wrecked, and i agree with many other people on here....sell your car before u destroy another FD, and go get a civic to rice out.

How is it a privilege to own an RX7? Anyone with 13k can own one. I just have a hard time taking people who get so heated about this kind of stuff seriously. Why does it matter what this kid does with his car? If he buys it, he owns it. It's an awesome car, but it's still just a car.
Anyway, I know I'm in the minority here. I just have to laugh at how uptight you guys are. And I agree, I think the kid is just pulling your chains.

it doesnt matter if your 10 and drive an FD its ur attitude i could care less how old or how young you are that has nothing to do with my judgement..

AND it is a privilege to own a RX7 cause most people for there first car gets a civic honda or acura for like 5-8 grand if that. second off.there becoming rarer and rarer EVERYDAY and if you keep crashing them well where not gonna be seein many rx-7s are we? well thats where i was coming from people get uptight about it cause to some of them its there lives and hobby its almost like someone making fun of your girlfriend or wife when they make fun of the 7 hehe.

revsteve that was a pretty dumb thing to say. I know kids that are under 21 with FDs and they worked thier asses off for 4 years just to earn a car like that. They knew what they wanted and worked for them. I think no one under 21 should get an FD for free, maybe that could work, but you dont have to be 21 to be aware of the perfection of the FD.

I don't get it what's the stupid point of this thread anyway? He wants a magazine about Rotary engine and stuff, but he want's to put the body kit and wheels before any reliability mods. How nice. Yet another FD that will be totaled in a week.
