is there a way of tell if the alarm system on my RX is a factory or aftermarket? Because it will randomly go off when im turning the key to open the door. At first i thought maybe because i was turning it to quick but i try every way to open it. and sometimes it wil go off sometimes it wont. please help... its a 93 base if that helps.

the factory alarm is the problem. there are two ways to fix it. ground the hood pin wire so the alarm will never arm (the factory alarm wont work if there is an open sensor.)also you can pull the security fuse .

if you want it to work you will need to check a few different things. first make sure the door pin wires on each side function correct. second make sure the hood pin
sensor works third make sure the trunk trigger works. finaly make sure both key cylinder swithes fuction correct . when you lock the door with the key the security light should turn on solid for a few seconds and then begin to flash if not there is most likely a bad sensor.

Question

"the factory alarm is the problem. there are two ways to fix it. ground the hood pin wire so the alarm will never arm (the factory alarm wont work if there is an open sensor.)also you can pull the security fuse ."

I was wondering where is the security fuse?

Also, my car had the same problem, but only when I was in a certain part of town. I could go anywhere else, and my alarm wouldn't trip out at all. But when I go to that one area, it would go off when I unlock the doors, every time. I think it may be a "competing" radio signal or something.
