One thing that piece will do is increase the length of the runners, which will change the way the engine breathes at different RPMs. Conventional non-turbo 'hot rod' wisdom says that longer runners will produce more midrange torque, usually at the expense of high-RPM power. The principle should be similar for the rotary, although I'm not sure how the turbocharger will change things.


Runner length should make a noticeable difference, at least in a non-turbo car. The 787B had variable intake runners, and the RX-8 has a way of changing the intake runner length by opening and closing valves. The 86-91 RX-7's did something about this also.

No, you've got it wrong. That's for bolting an FD 13brew UIM to an FC 13BT LIM. You can clearly see that the LIM pictured there is for an FC, because of the large blockoff plate on the outside which is where the FC acv resides.

its not. its for the FC guys so they can use the FD upper intake manifold...

ok so reverse question: how is an FD UIM better than the FC that FC guys would want to use it? (still learning about these cars so please don't flame the newbie questions )
