Safe Startup
Since most engine wear occurs on start up, is there any way to reduce this wear when the FD hasn't been driven for a week or more? The problem is since the engine hasn't been run for a while the seals and bearings are devoid of any oil.
What I have been doing is to turn the ignition on and let the engine crank briefly but not long enough for it to catch. I repeat this 3 times so oil can be pumped in to lubricate the dry engine parts. I also use a fuel lubricate as an added precaution.
Anyone have any other ideas/thoughts/methods?
