Safe Boost pressure for a track day

Hi,

I'm currently running @ 0.9 Bar boost (just over 13 psi) on my FD with Stock turbo's.

At this setting I get 84% Injection Duty @ WOT 7000 RPM.

I have a HKS induction kit with alloy Pipes, upgraded ignition leads and a Apexi FC ecu.

What is the maximum safe boost that I can run? And if I can increase the boost - what is the base duty that I should set on the FC Commander for 0.95 or 1 Bar boost levels?

Any help appreciated.

Regards, Andy

I would not go much more than that at the track. Your engine temps and intake temps will determine what is the best boost for your car. I turn my boost controler off at the track and run on the 10lb wastegate spring on my TO4S. HP isn't everything at a road coarse.

If this is your first track event, try turning your boost down to near stock levels and then work on your driving.

As you get more confortable with the track and your car, slowly increase the boost. Watch you water temps while you do this.

Heland:

I run 13-14 psi on the street for daily driving but lower the boost to 10 psi for unfamiliar tracks and/or warmer weather. In cooler weather on familiar tracks, I will bump the boost back up to 13-14 psi. Just be prepared to go through a lot more oil when running higher boost levels.

Also, I ALWAYS run at least half a tank of 100 octane at the track. It is cheap (well, not so cheap) insurance to reduce the chances of detonation when running the crap out of the motor....
