When I checked into it, I was told it would require drilling. No thanks. I didn't like the look of it BETTER, but figured I'd rid myself of the power ant.

You'd really need to measure to find out for sure.

I did it on mine today (sorry no pics). It's pretty easy. You need to purchase miata mast part #0000-81-904c ($14.56), S2000 antenna($30.00 ebay)and female to female adaptor. for the mast you need to modify a little. What i did was use 10-32 TSI(heilicoil) to re-tap thread and put heilicoil in. The antenna should fit right in. One more thing you need to modify the bracket to fit which i didn't. I think it's strong enough. It's still there after i washed my car (one of those automatic car wash)
BTW i'm a CNC machinist so it's pretty easy for me to find tap and heilicoil. Good luck
