I just viewed the webcast, it was 95% Mazda 6, not much on RX-8.

I don't know about all of you, but the 6 is SWEET! And the RX-8 looks better than the concept version! I want both, go Mazda!

It's going to be very interesting when this car can be test driven. I think FD owners will be disappointed in terms of performance. With 25% less torque than the FD I think this car will be pretty much like the Honda S2000, which just does not compare to an FD in off-the-corner acceleration and overall performance.

Just my $0.02

I belive this car has two rotary heads and no turbos. If you can get a RX8 to be 249 HP with no turbos and with that type of engine. I dont know about you guys but I think this is a monster. Imagine if you put a twin turbo in it or a single turbo. This beast will kick 350-400 easily. I own a 93 RX-7 and a 93 MX-6. I dont know about you guys but I love that MX-6. Is not as fast as the 7 but it has VERY good handling and is sweet to drive. Very confortable. I love MAZDAs. I was going to get a Miata as a second car but its just too small for me. The MX-6 has all I need. Super light car 180 HP V6, 150 Torque. and is super light, drives awesome and looks slick, A true sports Sedan. I like the RX8 and I love that 6. I will ensure you guys I am going to buy those cars eventually. I always wait a little while when they first come out though, cause they always have to fix the problems, and also prices go down

Yeah, my feeling on the "Renesis" Rotary engine is that they took the original Wankel, gave it a street port, and a new name. That's the easiest way to make 250 hp in an N/A rotary. They probably played around with making stronger, lighter rotors and housings. But, just think about what this is going to mean for reliability, which kind of goes downhill when you throw a turbo into the mix. Don't get me wrong I'm completely for achieving more-power-quick via a turbo, but at least the RX-8 shouldn't come across the same maintenance issues that the 3 gen RX-7 did. And, it should definitely make problems that arise easier and cheaper to fix for the mundane car owner.

As far as the performance being similar to the S2000, I thought about that too, and I said to myself "at least I’ll be able to carry three of my friends instead of one ."

At least that's my $0.02

the engine has more done to it than you think. the apex seals are now supported 360 degrees eliminating the problems with the apex seals colliding with the ports meaning more reliability. this engine here is gonna take the rotary too a whole different level including the 7! wait and see!

The new 13B has a much more efficient intake and exhaust schematic, though I'm not quite sure how it works. It actually gets much better mileage and is an ultra low emissions engine. . .

That means that if you managed to get one turboed and put it in your FD you'd have:
A) a very fast car, period.
B) a car that passes emissions easily with a downpipe and a high flow cat.
C) a lighter car, so you can put in that huge intercooler and maintain 50/50.

If I have a chunk of money in a year I may see about putting in one of these things. Granted I'll need to custom modify an ECU, but that's easier than doing the mechanical work for me!

Because cores would be unavailable initially for rebuilding the engine, it's pretty clear that a limited number of new crate engines would be available at the Mazda reman facility. But don't expect to retail purchase one without a warranty repair order and the VIN# on the RX-8 for quite some time.
