Rx7 fd3s Tomei exhaust?

Curious to know if anyone used this midpipe and catback. Found only one video of it being used
tomei mid pipe and catback titanium. Shows it bolted to stock twin downpipe. Looks amazing with a hefty price tag.but boost creep it's probably a must. Anyone have thoughts on this.

Leave the stock cat and just use the catback and you won't have to worry about creep

Believe it or not, its a new exhaust for a 30 year old car- so, there wont be many people running it yet.

Expect Tomei quality welds and fitment (first class) and a tinny/raspy Titanium exhaust note.

It is actually very affordable for a full Titanium (materials used) catback and midpipe.

Just do the catback if you are worried about boost creep.

When racing stock class I used a Magnaflow Ti with stock cattet downpipe and cat.
It was JDM despite the name and made by same manufacturer of JIC Ti. It was louder than the 2.5" straight pipe it replaced witth of course that tinny Titanium exhaust note.
Ti piping and mufflers make the rotary sound more raspy and harsh as do round cannister mufflers versus larger diameter oval mufflers- which is a vibe many like for rotaries.

I agree with this. Install catback and downpipe, leave the stock main cat in place.

Deleting the main cat is a mod with negligible benefits and major downsides. Without a cat, the car will smell like a 1960s muscle car and will stink to the point that you will smell like you just mowed the lawn every time you drive the car. Want to drive your car to work occasionally? Too bad, unless you like smelling like hydrocarbon combustion. People often don't consider these tradeoffs on paper, and they end up with a street car with a bunch of race car mods that they never use because it is unpleasant.

Pollution goes up by 10x for a 20 horsepower gain in power - it's not worth it. Is it cool to not have to worry about overheating or fouling a cat if you decide to delete it, and to run the rotary uncorked how God intended? Yes, but the benefit is not worth the significant tradeoff in usability for a street car, IMO.

How would that 4.5 inch tip fit at the rear bumper? Seems big for the exhaust ‘cut out’ space in the stock plastic valance but I’ve never measured or ran that style.

fits pretty darn good. On my last fd I had 3.5 exhaust right off turblown efr 7670 kit straight back with one vibrant race cat and then muffler with 4.5 tip. Was crazy obnoxious. But I liked it. But also had adaptronics ecu with 14lb turbo smart controlling boost.no boost creep.
but sold that car 3 years ago.now I'm back. Number 6 rx7

my friend and i tested this with my T2. stock (cat + air pump) at idle, its like 200HC's (unburned Hydrocarbons), remove the cat, it was like 1900HC's, and then remove the air pump HC's went up to like 4000.
we got yelled at because it bricked the machine. the old machines use a couple bottles of gas, and compare them with what comes out of your tailpipe

Judging by the tiny mufflers, that exhaust is very likely going to be LOUD

My buddy has it on his Stockport EFR8374iwg and it’s loud!!
He changed out the Tomei mid pipe to RX7.com mid pipe and it quite down some but not by a lot.
Also it’s boost creeps and he’s gonna pull the turbo and port the wastegate.

Funny, it's not even listed on the Tomei website.
Since it's a racing muffler, it's going to be *incredibly* loud.
Like, obnoxiously loud with a helmet on.
It's also not going to sound great with a tail pipe silencer installed.

For the price of the exhaust, you could just about buy an aftermarket ECU and get it tuned.
Then you wouldn't have to worry about boost creep.

Tomei Midpipe with RE-Amemiya exhaust

I’ve got the tomei mid pipe paired with a titanium re-amemiya exhaust and it sounds great.

My waste gates are ported, but, won’t boost less than 13 psi on stock twins and stock boost controller. Just make sure you have the supporting fueling upgrades if you go this route. Fuel injection duty cycle was at 90+% when I first installed. Already had a Supra pump, so, went ahead and bought 2200 secondary injectors that same weekend.

Got the Tomei Ti cat back for christmas. Excited!
Considering the Tomei mid pipe for my stock FD with OEM intake, DP, etc. Anyone else with this Tomei combo on a stock FD? Boost creep for sure?

Definite boost creep with the midpipe. I would throw it on with the Stock cat until you can mediate the creep. Well worth it if you do. (porting wastegates along with other fixes, there are plenty of threads on here to help you with that.) OEM intake may help just a tad but that is usually related to boost spike no creep. IMO, Its not worth the risk of putting on the midpipe until you can properly mediate it unless you have the self control to keep your foot out of it. I am kind of in the same boat, I have some parts to install but won't until I have the supporting mods and plan to do a small video series of the progress down the road when I'm ready. Please post some good videos and sound clips if you can.

The Tomei site has the decibel numbers for just the muffler and then muffler snd mid pipe at 3750rpm….3 digit levels with them both on there. I remember one of our Atlanta eat and dyno Thursday night meet ups at dyno labs and Ryan McDonalds montego blue with dp, midpipe and no muffler open exhaust went by on I75….easily the loudest thing I’ve heard on the road nice memory to boot!

I suspect there isn't much difference between the catback and other titanium ones, like the GReddy I have (it actually looks quite similar), but that midpipe is disappointing. There's a whole in the market for a Ti midpipe with a decent muffler on it. That little bullet thing isn't going to help much.
