You would need to re-wire the harness and re-mount them to the FD support, in a round about way, yes.

The motors and blades are the same as the JDM 1999+ FD3S. To use a 1999+ FD fan assembly all you need to do is re-wire the harness.

I have found them to be quieter. As far as efficiency, who knows...

What u mean by round about way?

anyone already did this and know how to rewire them???help

If you cannot tell strait away looking at it how to do the wires, find an electrician.

ok! but on 1993 fan black cable is with green cable and 1998 and rx8 2009 fan black cable is with yellow cable!!

There is not a color code step by step, and there are too many variables in this to trust one.

This is possible but you need to know how to olm it out to determine what is what. That is how I wired in my 1999 FD fans in the past.

What happened to the left fan?

If you swap hardness for 99 spec fan, just do color-color. Their position is different but color are the same. I did this a while ago.

Attached are two cooling fan schematics for the 1993 RX7 and a 2008 RX8.

Assuming I want the full functionality of the 1993 RX7 fan relays (there are four of them), I think I need to do the following:

Fan#1 fed by connector B-05:
Bridge the positive (+) feeds from Connector B-05 (Y/W) and (R/W) to the Blue (L) wire of the the RX8 Fan motor #1. Ground will come from bridging (B) wire and (L/O) to Green (G) wire of the RX8 Fan motor#1.

Fan#2 fed by connector B-06:
Bridge the positive (+) feeds from Connector B-06 (Y/W) and (W) to the Red (R) wire of the the RX8 Fan motor #2. Ground will come from bridging (B) wire and (L/O) of connector B-06 to Black (B]) wire of the RX8 Fan motor#2.

However, the schematics show the RX7 fan-motors as 4-poles (two positive; two negative); and the RX8 fan-motors are 2-poles (single positive, and single negative).

Will this cause a problem ? Any back-feeding ? It doesn't seem like to me.

Moreover, before finalizing, I need to verify that adding +12VDC to either the Blue (L) or Red (R) wire of the RX8 fan-motors, will make them rotate in the the correct direction.

Man, nothing is SIMPLE about this car . . . .

PS: here's a mock-up of the wiring, any issues ?

Okay, everyone can stop replying like mad... :)

In spit of all the confusing diagrams and conflicting information, apparently the answer is...

MATCH THE COLORS!

Green to green, black to black, etc.

sigh.

Does anyone know where I can get the RX8 Series II electrical connectors for the fan other than a junkyard ?

I like that it's a sealed connector unlike the FD's.

BTW: If you want new FD fan electrical connectors, you can get them here:
250 Housing Lance Armlock - ET type Connector with Tangless Terminals

Thanks in advance,

Make sure you get rx8 s2(2009+) parts...

Part Nos:
fan blade right: RF1S15140
fan blade left: RF2A15140
motor, both sides: N3R115150

Worth noting the US spec fan motor part number is N3A115150
I am not clear on the effective differences between the two except the connectors.
I think I'm just gonna swap the blades since I'm not experiencing any issues with my motors, but I am planning on swapping the radiator out.

Monsterbox 12-15-15 02:34 PM

I've got a set sitting right of the 2009+ fans

Ill be chopping off the plugs and wiring +2 wires to a positive (off of a high amp relay), and +2 to a ground, and for each fan, for high-speed mode all the time, if this is how it works i assume

Going to give it a shot w/ Koyo N-Flow + RX7 Fanshroud+RX8 Fan blades, on 26b, we'll see if they do a good job!

Any update on anyone successfully completing this mod?
