Running rich, black smoke at idle

Running rich, black smoke at idle

Hello,

Do you guys know a way to adjust the fuel enritchment on 3rd Gens? My car i9s running really rich, black smoke at idle, and I cannot figure why because I have full exchaust and air filters (I should be running lean).
I know it doe not affect the engine that much but hearts my pocket. Here the price is 4 dollars a gallon and paying 20 bucks for a 60 mile trip is very expensive.

Thanks,

Charris

If you got a full exhaust system and intake, you should be running lean! Perhaps your injectors are sticking open or something. Are you running a new ecu? what is your boost at?

Maybe you're plugs are fouled. I had my MAp sensor off and fouled my plugs. Making it seem like my car was running overly rich. I took em out and wire brushed em with a dremel and their all good again.

This is the problem my FD was having when I brought it to PFS. It was also failing emissions. Peter tried replacing the plugs and the temp thermosensor but it did not fix it. Precision Tune found the problem: 2 hoses off under the intake in the rats nest. This cleared up the black smoke and fixed the emissions.
