Running mid-pipe w/ stock ECU & whats the next mod?
My first question is, what evidence would there be if a FD had been run with a midpipe on the stock ECU. I've heard thats not a good idea, but how could you tell (assuming the engine is not blown atm)?
Also, if the stock cat is being used with a new downpipe and catback, and stock ecu (with the airpump and precat removed... maybe this is obvious, not sure), is this setup ok? What should be the next mod?
Thanks for advice.

Next mod should be an aftermarket ECU... You can run a full exhaust on the stock ecu, I have been for a few months, but you have to keep the boost down below 10 psi, probably with a boost controller/pills or porting your wastegate to prevent boost creep.

I would REALLY recomend getting a new ECU asap. That is just asking for trouble running a MP without a new ECU. If I were u I would go PFC or AEM, I have the PFC and like it a lot.

Get an ECU or control your boost to 10 psi. BTW, with the air pump disconnected, your stock cat will not last long. If you are going to leave it disconnected, you might as well put the midpipe on.

Heres the thing... the car is not mine yet. I THINK that the stock cat is being used, but I wondered if I could tell if a midpipe had been used in the past. Basically, can running a midpipe w/ just the stock ECU cause long term damage, or is usually an all or nothing kind of thing?

Another suggestion would be to find out where the car has been serviced and ask them if the car was running a midpipe.

I'd like to think that MOST people out there aren't out to "get you". So far I have no reason to distrust this guy and everything I've heard sounds good.
You just can't be too careful sometimes, especially when spending this kind of money. Then again, its an FD, and Id really like to have one!
Thanks for the info.
