rubbed through slightly fender wires

hey so i took my fd for its first drive after the motor rebuild and i accidently rubbed a few of the wires. just so happens that it blew the cooling fan fuse and now they dont work.
so i fixed the wires and now the fans work, just when i hit the ac button in the cabin it blows the fuse instantly.. im kinda lost on what to check.

You sure you fixed the wires properly? No bare metal showing? Do you know how to read out wires if so read them for a ground to see whats grounding out.

no i dont know how to read out grounds.. all i know is to follow wires and i have a test light. really the only thing i could think of is the relay melted inside its case.. cause the wires look fine..

How did you repair the wires did you just use butt splices and crimp them and How many wires? Ive been looking at the wiring diagram and from what I can see there isn't much that could cause this problem. It's either the ac clutch (less likely) the relay (good chance) or something happened when you spliced the wire (most likely) I try to use only environmental splices witch is where you use heat shrink to seal up the splice to make it water resistant and also makes sure the spice can't accidentally ground out. Do you own a meter?

I'd disconnect the battery before you fully check the harness. I bought a project rx7 that had a electrical fire from eating into the front left harness.

thanks for all the help .. i dont own a meter but i can get one today, i actually dont have ac in my car anymore so that eliminates the clutch and the wires didnt rub all threw the copper just rubbed the insulation off so i taped them back up and taped the whole harness back together.

it had to have rubbed mroe then just the rubber if the fans stopped working. i guess i would test all the relays. but if the relay didnt work i dont see how that would cause it to blow a fuse...

if a relay is bad current wont go through it...?

Ive seen a front harness issue like this before.

It was the passenger side fender. The damage took out the igniter, a bunch of fuses, map sensor, and made the pfc malfunction.

The extent of the damage to the harness wasn't visible until it was taken out. Taking out the front harness is a pain in the ***.

I say be sure of the damage to the harness in case you missed a few damaged wires.

i had the exact same problem from rubbing through the harness from drifting hard.
exact same issues as well.

you need to cut back the insulation on the wires you rubbed through, and recheck them.

did you rub through the thick grey one with the metal sheathing around it? 3 wires inside?

If you picked up a meter what you can do is remove the fuse and put the meter on ohm setting or 200 ohm setting its the omega symbol on most and place the black lead on the ground of the battery and the red lead on one blade of the fuse then the other and if either side is over like 1.0 ohm (hopefully closer to 0.2-0.0 ohm) then you'll have to read out that wire for it's resistance by removing the other end of the wire and reading from one end of the wire to the other side and that will tell you if its the wire or component. Sorry if this seems complicated it would be easier to show you than to explain.
