RPM going nuts

So I was driving last night and noticed I was doing 120 km/h down the freeway and my RPM tach was reading 600rpm? I pulled over, left the car on and the rpms dropped to 0 but the car was running fine. So I proceeded to drive home, as soon as I step on the gas lightly the needle rocketed to 9000rpm and kept jumping up and down rapidly between 0 - 9000rpm. Fired her up this morning and there is 0 response from the rpm cluster... I'm guessing a pooped sensor or the actual dash instrument itself?

All my other gauges are functional. I was driving today and the needle worked for a few seconds but then went dead again. Could it be a fuse? Maybe I shouldn't rip out my dash just yet.

I guess you own a 93', this is a common problem with the electronics in the tach
. Some people have said its a bad solder or a resistor. Do a search there is a few write ups on how to go about fixing this.
