Unhappy rpm drops

Hi guys, quick question I own a uk spec series 3 which has covered 77000 miles. It has been great so far since I bought it a year ago. Recently i have noticed that at idle when i select a gear the rpm drops to below 500 and feels like it wants to cut out, the car is standard. Any ideas? thanks

Your clutch switch may have failed. There are two switches actuated by the clutch pedal; one is the "interlock" switch that only allows the car to be started with the clutch engaged, the other is a switch that tells the ECU to ramp up idle speed a tad to handle the added drag on the engine (which is the one you need to look at).
