Rotor housing replacement when rebuilding
Is it neccessary to replace the housings when rebuilding the engine?
my engine had 130,000 km on it.

You wont really know till the motor is apart. I would run a compression check before you tear it down. Although low compression doesn't necessarily mean the rotor housings are the reason for the low compression. At 78k though you're likely to have some wear. Some peoples standards are COMPLETELY different from others. Depending on your use you might keep them and you might ditch them all together.

some minor chrome peeling at the edges is ok, if you are seeing several mm wide sections that are more than an inch long then yes, you may want new or better housings. 80k miles on rotor housings is a crap shoot, if the motor hasn't been raced much you may be surprised at how decent they can still be, if the engine has been abused then they likely are marginally servicable at that mileage.
