VA Rotary Works throttle body?

Anyone know if this gets rid of the thermawax bs and takes the coolant out of the throttle body? I know you can bypass the throttle body already but i like the idea of this tb, and it looks rather nice. Also, does this elminate the double throttle?

Yes it would get rid of the thermowax pellet. You can remove this from your stock TB. You have two choices, you can disable it, or remove it entirely.

As far as the double throttle butterflies goes. that is part of the upper intake manifold. So this does not eliminate it.

Hope this helps.

Definately so, appreciate it. Im trying to figure if this will help simplify the engine bay some while adding looks and possible power gains. I love the look, and better response sounds rather appealing. Im sure the gains arent enough to fork out the money for it but the looks and getting rid of some idling issues sounds appealing.

Anyone have any opinions on how this flows compared to other big bore type throttle bodies?

TB is great. no low end hesitation on my car. really cleans up the engine bay. throttle response is much better but that is probably because i had play in my cable. if you search you will find a vid with the TB installed on a totally stock FD, this is what made me buy it!

wow that looks nice... Adding it to my list.

My only concern is that the more flow we create, can cause boost spikes/creep. Has anyone had problems with those 2 and upgraded TB's?

On a stock twin setup w/tiny internal WG, you can have those issues with lack of exhaust restriction. I don't think a TB will make a huge difference, and with a stock twin car your money is definitely spent better elsewhere IMO.

On a single turbo car with larger external WG, wouldn't be a problem.

Art's old car ran with an Apexi FMIC, open air intake, dp, mp and Apexi dual exhaust without boost creep issues for years. He decided to port his TB which was enough to push his boost beyond control of the stock un-ported wastegate.

i got the TB and Elbow from rotary works. my setup is a FD block with a Gato performance exhaust manifold, T78 turbo, 13B-RE cosmo intake. this thing flows GOOD!! the throttle response is instant. the only issue i had was fabbing up a throttle body cable since i used the cosmo manifold. with the fd manifold it is no issue. IMO its worth the money.

response and simplicity is a plus. with a ported wastegate on BNR's, maybe the extra flow doesn't cause more creep/spiking??

papsmagu, what terms did you search for to find that video? i'll keep looking for it.

Double throttle is located at the UIM inlet, right after the TB. One of those things that should be deleted from every FD IMO, just like the AWS

I can sure think of a bijillion other things I would purchase for my fd before I wasted money on this thing. Sure looks nice but for that much change you can get far better power/performance gains using you money other ways.

I dont know if I believe all of this talk it will increase throttle response. In reality all it should be changing is the total flow parameters compared to the stock tb. So maybe you get 3 more whp...I could be wrong though, just seems to spendy to buy for looks.

^ I hear what yall are saying, I tend to like some things that not everyone has though. I have not done much customizing to my fd, but little odds and ends that I do like this put a smile on my face.

It is my goal/mission to test this throttle body in a dyno. I/thewird am going to test with 5 units. a stock tb, rotary works tb, feed tb, and a stock ported/polished tb.

Between the two of us we only need the rotary works unit. It will either be tested on my car or thewird's car ( both of them are single turbo ) but it should give an idea if one can out perform the others. This test won't likely be done till the summer since it is cold here, and our cars are put away. Plus I am hoping to find a rotary works tb cheap. If anyone has one please send it my way, I will pay for shipping back and forth

Was just looking at this throttle body and was particularly looking at this picture.

Rotary Works throttle body?-gy27e.jpg

Wouldn't you have to cut out all that excess aluminum behind the butterfly in order to truly take advantage of having one large 90mm butterfly?
