Rotary Problems

Ive been looking at importing a 92-93 FD rx7 from japan, but everyone i talk to tells me to stay away from rotarys and thay if im lucky the engines will make it over 150k, are they that bad?, what would be the expected maintiance costs? ive read around and found that the apex seals are usualy the culprit, can you just replace these seals?

Thank you.
