i have a few questions. i have the chance to buy a large port single turbo motor out out of a buggy. the only problem is the engine owner is unsure of the year of the block and motor. it is currently carbed and has a distributor. since i dont know much about the difference between the years of the 13b. will the motor work in my fd by changing out my certain parts to make it work.

 

6 port, older style LIM, ask the FC guys, looks like it came from an NA FC. But I could be wrong.

 

Just an FYI, you can't just drop in a FC engine into the FD. The engine mounts are in different locations. While it can be done, it's not just a drop-in swap.

 

Uhm.. where do you see 6 ports?

Looks to be a S4 (86-88) turbo engine, obviously aftermarket intake, etc..

 

Why would you want an FC engine in your FD?

 

WAAAY too much work there to make it happen in an FD. I'd pass.

Minimum changing the front cover out, no knock sensor holes in the rotor housings, FD intake manifold won't bolt up, motor mounts probably won't bolt up....

Yeah I agree. It just wouldnt be worth all the work that your going to have to put into it. Unless your getting it for damn near free. How much does the person want for it?

Personally I would just look for a REW that has been modded out.

 

as stated above, that is for sure an S4 Turbo II engine, the work required to install that into an FD would cost more then just buying yourself a nice long block FD engine. there isnt any reason to swap this engine into your car, some of the things to think about that this engine has that are different are

-smaller intake and exhaust ports (this will limit your power)
-engine mounts are on the center iron vs. rear iron on the FD (need to create some sort of custom engine mounting)
-S4 rear iron is not re-enforced and they have a tendency to crack once you go above a certain power (400 whp i think?)
-no knock sensor on the rotor housings
-completely different front cover

and lots more. so yea, not worth it.

 

thanks guys for the info. the guy said he has only 10 pounds of boost in it and it makes 400 whp. he wasn't sure what year it was from but kept saying something about how it was a large center block. it has a large port with the oil and collant passages drilled out. it was a good deal but not if it isnt going to work.

 

theres no way hes hitting 400 hp off of 10 lbs of boost...... hes full of ****.
