Rotary god never smiled on me(long)
I have been having boost problem since I got the car
and coolant problem for last 1 month now my motor
decide to go.
yesterday came from work coolant buzzer went off and needle went up high so I parked the car imidiatly and cooled it down and put water and drove home today I starte her up but I couldn't catch for 4-5 sec and lots of smoke..I knew it was going but it's so soon I never enjoyed my car.
well I'll try blockweld thing next week and if it doesn't work I'm gona rebuild with big street port.
BTW what do I need when rebuilding the engine beside rebuilding kit?
because I'm mechanic myself so I wana try.I know it's different engine but WTF it's an engine anyway.
and I got all the tools...
and anybody tried mazda performance street port templet? since I don't know about the rotary port it looks like ideal way to get the port job done..
thanks..

Yes you can rebuild yourself but you need very good measuring tools to check your housings for warpage (after an overheat) If the engine has been rebuilt before you may not have enough of a groove in the side housing for your water seals after the side or intermediates are machined (if required, measurement will tell) The gasket kit is really expensive $1200 I think . If you want to port it, the info is on the net, even the templates can be got. Get out the Dremel tool! If you want to go to 3mm seals then the rotors will need machining, not just enlarged though it has to machined more to a side than centre, about $100. Lots of vasaline and away you go! I let rx7 specialties in Calgary do mine but next time I will do my own, they did a great job but I want to do it myself. Good luck, sorry it hasn't been so great so far.

Thanks for the info.
I think I didn't actually overheat more like air poket beacause of compressed air by pass through seal.
I opend hood after pulled over and check the temp of the engine I could even put my hand on the intake manifold and I didn't feel any heat or see any steam.
also my temp gauge went up rapidly like 1 sec from middle to 3/4 if it was real overheating it can't be so quick. IMO
anyway how much calgary guys charged? I priced out from mazda they want 5000 (may incluid core charge) that is way too much..
and I found a guy can import used engine from japan.
I didn't ask for price yet but If I'm lucky I can get good running j-spec motor assy includ twins and I can keep my motor.
I am gona ask him and try block weld for the last and I can choose.
BTW do you rember that site has port templet?

Adam (Rx-7 Specialties) charged me $3400, that was for rebuilding my engine to 3mm Apex seals and Hayes H2O seals plus refacing the flywheel for a new clutch and an HKS Downpipe which is about $340. Streetporting was quite reasonable but I didn't go for it. Give Adam a call or PM ASTRO he works for them and can give you more info. A Year on my engine and its strong!
I stripped down the engine to the core and shipped it off on a palette. My turn around wasn't critical so I beleive he had it for about three weeks total.
And while I waited I did the silicon hose job, recovered my wiring harness with coil tube and cleaned everything up.
