Rotary Extreme VMIC Copies??

Not sure if this is old or anything, but I just noticed on Ebay that people were selling copies of Rotary Extreme's vmount setups already, using Rotary Extreme's name.

Here's the Ebay auction.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rotar...18361902QQrdZ1

It also lists another site which also has a "Rotary Extreme TYPE VMIC."

http://www.extremeimports.net/MazdaRX7Intercooler.htm

I'm not sure if Chuck is aware of it, but just wanted to bring it up as it's new news to me.

Chuck's Kit comes with a Koyo radiator. This e-bay one doesn't mention any radiator. That's worth about $400 give or take a few $'s.

I don't know this company but I do know that Chuck has awesome cust. service. He always spends time on the phone with you if you need help with his product installs. Also never ignored any of my e-mails or PM's. The same cannot be said for some other vendors. That's worth something too IMO.

I don't think Chuck or anyone else has anything to worry about from those listed. They look like a complete joke and the prices are almost the same as the real thing for all of the products listed. When some Chinese V mount goes on sale for $350 then he can get annoyed and have to waste a bunch of time explaining the difference to people that don't want to hear it and expect to get things for next to nothing

whiiiich is also modified too. I believe he modifies the cores from single to double pass, hence the much better cooling/reduced temps.

Koyo sells a few different variations of their radiators. They even have a 3 pass race version.

Does anybody else (that's been in this forum for awhile, I'm not betting any of the newer people will grasp it) see the irony in this?

And I assume it's more expensive than a single pass radiator, right?

Hey, for all the controversy that surrounded Chuck and his replicas, you do have to chuckle (no matter which side one stands on) that he's put his business on the opposite side of the playing field. Look at it this way - when another company copies your product and refers it as (insert your company name, or some abbreviation thereof) 'type', you know you're a player!

Of course, the price does go up as they have additional manufacturing costs between the different versions.

Are you sure its not a "3 core" rather than a "3 pass"? I think all FD radiators (stock config) are single pass... the water goes in one end, and out the other. What Chuck does when he mods them for V-mount use is split the upper end tank and move the 2nd outlet to that side such that the coolant goes in up top, heads down one side of the core(s), turns a "U" at the lower end tank, goes back up the other half of the core, and out the 2nd upper end tank... double pass.

A 3 pass works the same way you just have to add two baffles instead of one; one baffle in each tank.

Any aluminum radiator is easily converted. You slice through the tank with a bandsaw and TIG a baffle into it where ever needed and then move the inlet/outlet to suit.
