Question room?

hey i got a question for everyone, espically the tall people
Im about 6'4-6'5 and just recently got a chance to sit in a FD. Now i found out that the head is limited and since the steering has not tilt its right there! Not to much of a problem, but im thinking when buying my FD to get a racing seat. Does anyone know how much extra room that will give me for steering and head room?

there's a few of us in the same boat.

it depends on several things. The short answer is, if you don't mind modding your car to all hell, you can get a good 2 inches of extra room by mounting a racing seat to the floor of the car. Several will fit. It seems that the Sparco Roadster is a good street/race seat that will fit nicely into the car (well, decently).

If you do this, however, you wont be able to slide the seat at all, which means no one else can drive your car, and people like valets and mechanics will have a hard time if/when they do.

If you want to keep the seat on rails so that it will slide.... well... that's the problem - there hasn't been real concise info on what seats will give you how much room, so it's hard to say.

Myself and another guy out here in the L.A. area are working on figuring some of it out right now. He's tried the MazdaSpeed seat and is looking into trying the RZ seats (that's the foreign market's high performance RX7 - comes with Recaros). We both went down to Sparco headquarters and looked at what the Roadster might do if mounted on rails - hard to say.

So uhh... yeah, you can get a little more headroom but you have to figure out what you're willing to give up for it.

Oh, and if you get an R1, R2 or base w/ no sunroof, you'll get yourself a little bit more room as well.

I just saw a bracket for race seat for FD in option2. It will save you a lot of time to make a bracket yourself. And yes you do have to make it yourself, since no company make one for the FD. That Japanese Bracket will give you max of 60mm(~2.4") headroom. But you can forget about slide you seat. Also a smaller steering will help a bit.
