I have a set of 17" Weld EVO Type 44 that I would part with. They look nice on a FD. They look like a Lamb style wheel, six big holes, polished AL. If you would like a pic I can get one to ya.

Everyone knows that advans are nice, but not everyone had $2000 or more to spend.

I finnally got mine from japan, my friend got advan model 5................not me

I got Blackracing ****-1 17/8 17/9 (They are kind of like RGs. Not sold in the US yet)
I will have my car pic up in about a week, please stop by and give some opinions.

IMO:

Don't get any RIMS smaller than 18"x 8"
And if you can get them Staggered do so.
Thats when the Rims in the rear are wider
than the fronts. and if you can get them
with LIPS, it makes it look better, with more
of a 3dimensional look to them.

Most of us aren't hard core draggers or AutoX'ers.

Get the RIMS that looks the best to you..
Don't let the Weight of the rims be a factor.
Just adds more $$$ to the price..

Because in theory, If you are gonna drag(most do)
You better off putting Drag radial/slicks on Stock rims.
and teh baddest aftermarket rims aren't gonna be
lighter than the stock 16's.

And don't get caught up in the " 3 piece, 2 piece and forged this and that BS because of weight. Because of
the above.. I had a friend who put 3 piece Rims that cost like 4K on his 300zxTT, and had issues.. From the pieces that bolts together not geting airtight seals
inside the rim leaking air. and etc. and don't believe the
" if you bend your rim/scratch and etc" that you can just
unbolt t he rims and replace the broke part. Thats BS
you can't find/buy just the piece. and if you do find it
have fun waiting for it. and the cost. Usually when you
crack up a rim to the point you want to Replace the broken part. 20-1 the whole rim needs to be replaced.

And if you a autoXer, You better off upgrading suspension with stock rims, than aftermarket rims
and no suspension upgrade..

I got 19's on my car. and people thnk my car its lowed, but isnt.

Lataz.

Surprised no one mentions these babies.

18x8 @ 14.5 lbs
18x9.5 @ 15.1 lbs

I agree, Mike, very nice rims. Personally, I *love* the SSR GT1's. I'd have them by now if not for that blown motor over Xmas ....

this, to me, is worse than putting a V8 in an RX7... why aren't people jumping on this guys nuts like the did jim's & les's when they started talking about their V8 swaps?

Can you at least explain why? In your opinion the worse
thing to do??

To each their own..

When you go out buy your 17" rims or what ever..
and a Civic pulls up to you and makes your rims
look like some cheerios, you'll know what I am
talking about...

lets be realistic.. Most (not all) put on rims for cosmetic
reasons. IF weight and performance was the issue.
Whats wrong with the stock rims???

I have stock rims, but I'm also packing 430 motor hp under the hood. I've never been concerned if a Civic has 19 inch blingedy-bling rims--he won't be looking at a side view of the FD, but rather my pretty '99 spec taillights

I agree that rims aren't a priority to have on the car, although the stock 16x8 are a little small in my opinion. The main reason I am looking into upgrading the wheels is for more grip. 400+ rwhp on 245/45/16's just doesn't stick. When I do get wheels, its almost certainly going to be the Kinesis K58 or 28. 18x9 front and 18x10 rear with 255/35/18 and 285/30/18.

Not to flame, but to give you an answer -

One of the big arguments about the V8 swap is that you're taking the heart of the RX7 out of the RX7 - you're taking out what makes the RX7 speacial... well, equally as important as the engine in the FD is the car's ability to take a corner fast enough to peel paint off the hood. It was one of, if not the, primary design concern(s) when Mazda was designing the FD - and why it was in the top one or two percent of the handling department when compared to all cars made at the time. (In the original FD brochure, they explained how they sent their engineers to go-cart racing schools to get a feel for what the car should feel like - they spent a lot of time and money getting it right).

By putting 19's on the car, you've likely raised the car or you're using too low of a profile tire to get good use out of them. You're almost asuredly not able to hit a corner at full speed or else you'll start ripping out fenders. You've significantly increased the unsprung weight and have thrown off the suspension geometry. In essence, you've taken a good deal of what mazda designed into the car and thrown it out the window as trade for some shiney rims that are bigger than anyone else's.

at least the V8 swap serves as form following function - you at least have a similar, if not better, handling car than you did when you started. The same can't be said about 19's.

That said, you're right - to each his own. What you do with your car is your business. I just think it's funny that everyone throws a stink when something changes in the engine bay, but could care less when the overall handling of a car is comprimised.

Talking OK. start droolin' baby

The Racing Sparco Viper and NT-R looks tight but you can only get 17x8/17x9...not wide enough for me.

The Racing Hart CP035 (17" only)is extremly light, the CP035-R's have some bling bling and are 18's.

The 5-Zigen (or correctly translated "Go Zigen") Typhoons are too heavy but the 5ZR's are nice.
