reving problem when gear inserted
Hi all
First of all, i changed all vacuum hoses and changed the damaged solenoids.
Now, my 92 FD3S idles fine when i have no gear inserted.
If i press the clutch, everything is quite normal, BUT when i put in a gear, doesnt matter if 1-5th or reversegear, the car idles strange. It reves up and down between 1100 - 1400 r/min. If i put out the gear, everything is fine again.
So does anyone know what will change if i put a gear in? I guess its something electrical again, isnt it?
If i could solve this problem with your help, im one step further with my "to do list"
Thank you very much!!

sorry man, but thats a common sign of a blown tranny.
j/k. Actually its extremely common and extremely fixable. Your clutch switch has failed....it activates when you push the clutch in and the car is in gear to maintain the idle. Look behind the clutch there should be a little tiny spring that the clutch will push down. I replaced mine with one from a writing pen.

wow dont shock me :-)
I "repaired" the clutch switch with a spring from a pen when i searched for the security relais ( which i dont have at the jdm ).
So i guess i can test the switch if i bypass the switch.
Im just thinking about the one thing - when i press the clutch, the idle is still ok, only when i put a gear in i get some troubles.
But you think its still the clutch switch?
Thx monsterbox

I'm 99.9% sure its the clutch switch.
My car did the EXACT same thing. I was driving through the parking lot....pull up to a stop sign with car still in first gear, put the clutch in and thought I had blown the motor. The car was making this strange feathering sound while the idle went nuts. Threw the shifter to neutral and car idled perfectly.
I honestly don't understand why it should make a difference what gear you are in if the clutch is disengaged...but for some reason it did for me too. I think it must be the tranny sending a signal to the engine idle control to disengage when you put the car in gear...however if the pedal is down the clutch switch must override this transmission signal. A broken switch will not be able to interact with the tranny signal.
