Reverse Lights switch?

I just replaced my reverse lights switch because the wires pulled out of the switch. I am refering to the switch that screws into the transmission. I have a 5-speed, and after I installed it it has become difficult to shift out of reverse. Is this common with a new reverse switch due to needing to be broken in? Or did I do somthing wrong or over tighten the switch?

I assume you're talking about a 5 speed.

It's quite possible that the switch is responsible for the extra resistance in the shifter. Is it firmer, or actually difficult to engage?

Yes it is a 5-speed. It is difficult to disengage. Engaging reverse is the same, but when I try to shift out i have to push kinda hard.

Anything on this? I have the same problem except my reverse lights are stuck on and it's extremely hard to shift out of reverse.

sevensix - my switch was $40

RXtacy - I have to change my switch too. How did you do it? It seems pretty tight in the trans tunnel to get a wrench in there. I was thinking the only way to do it was to either lower the trans or get a special tool?

Did you put the copper flat washer on the switch before install ? No washer and the switch goes in to far I would think .
