Reverse light comes on in 2nd gear
Help to anyone that might know.
I Just had my '93 FD Transmission rebuilt. Anyway I have the following problems.
1. When I shift into 2nd gear the reverse lights come
2. When I shift into reverse no reverse lights come on
3. It pops-out of 5th
4. Ocassionally they is a jolt after I shift it into 1st or 2nd. Like some sort of lag, delayed reaction
I was told by the guy that rebuilt it that it could be the bushing causing it. All I know is that it that the car does not shift as smooth as before I had it rebuilt (5th gear was grinding, that is whay I had it rebuilt). Please help, as I have already spen 1100.00.

Sounds like the tranny guys are idiots. If I remember correctly, there are 3 switches which screw into the sides of the tranny near the rear. One is the reverse switch (it's not on the shifter, it's actually in the tranny), one is a switch to tell the ecu if you're in second gear (I believe it uses this for boost or fuel; vaguely remember something from the manual) and the third I don't remember what it is. I do remember unplugging them when I did my clutch and they have different electrical connectors so you can't mix them up. They may be able to be threaded into the wrong holes, though. That would explain getting reverse lights in second. Have any boost problems? If you need it I can check my manual for you and give you a description of each. I think they put the wrong switches in the wrong holes.

Damon or anyone else that can help:
Well my car is on the rack with the tranny out again : ( I had the tranny shop fix 5th gear and I asked them what holes they pulled the switches from, they couldn't tell me and I was told its my responsability to have pulled them before dropping it off! Well my mechanic swapped two of the switches one 4 wire up top near the shifter and one two wire, now the tranny has to come out again because its not right and we cant get to the top switch without pulling the tranny for a 3rd time. My mecanic is asking me for this info:
What hole does the four wire switch go into?
What do each of the switches do?
I really need some help here, hope someone gan respond soon, if you have a diagram to send or if you can look under your car to help maybe that will solve my problem.
**If someone can look under their car your should be able to see two, two wire switches. If I remember correct when you unplug them they have different color plastic insulators, if not maybe someone can describe what they look like in the connector unplugged.
Thanks
Maria
