Retarted Question, but: How to Remove Piping to Stock Airbox

Alright, I know this is a really stupid question, but I can't seem to get steps 1, 2, and 3. I know to remove them, but I can't seem to take off the clamps. i don't know if you just push really hard, but I don't want to break them. i tried at a medium level and they didn't budge... Thanks a lot... BTW this is to vent BOV into atmos.

  • Get big *** pair of pliers
  • squeeze hose clamp
  • pull hose out of fitting
  • repeat

I'm not sure I understand the question, but it seems pretty straightforward to me.

The clamps are really stiff, thats why I recommended the pliers. It can be done without, if you have 2 people, but the one squeezing the clamp will have clamp indentations in his hands for hours. Get pliers that fit (the big 3" clamps especially), your hands or friends will thank you.

A trick when putting them back on is too add a little WD40 on the inside of the hose and then slip it on then reattach the clamp. This will save you some frustration and sore fingers.

oohhhh WD40..good idea! i hadnt thought of that. i always struggle with those hoses, and WD$) would probably make them seal better as well

I use hair spray. *Yes*, hair spray. It also helps to slip the hose on but provides a nice tacky stick when it dries. Go borrow a can from your girlfriend or wife.

That would make it fun when you tried to remove them again.

I work for the Subaru plant in Indiana and we use a little soapy water in a spray bottle. I little goes a long way. Good luck.

I used a pair of channel locks to get them off...

Those spring clamps are a PITA to deal with. Just replace them with the basic home depot screw hose clamps. IT will make things way easier to deal with in the long run.
