retarded question, bare with me Im new at this

I have a cracked compressor housing on my stock twins, and either need a new one, or need to weld it. The crack is still within the gasket line, basically I will be able to seal it entirely with the gasket, and it won't leak. However, its only a matter of time bfre the thing gets ripped open from the heat, and starts leaking. I understand that nearly all of them crack NE ways, but in the event that I cant weld it, I would guess that the next best thing to do would be to get a new housing. Now heres the problem. I dont have a camera to take pictures of it, because maybe the crack isn't even that bad, (about a quarter to half inch or even less) but if someone could post a picture of the stock compressor housings, (basically a picture of the turbos) where the exhaust housings meet up with the manifold, that would be the best way to determine which housing needs to be fixed/replaced. Or, by my dumbass description, the one that is cracked of the two turbo housings, has two "ports" comming out of it instead of one. HELP?

Find a good welder that can preheat the part and have it repaired. Most machine shops can mill the gasket surface back .

its pretty normal for stock twins to have cracks in the flange after normal use for a few thousand miles. i think they just get so hot that the cracks almost always show up. i have yet to see a set of used twins without a single crack in the flange that you mentioned. usually, the growth of the cracks pretty much slows to a stop about 2mm from the sealed area of the flange, and by that time, your shafts and bearings will probably need replacing anyway. if it still hasnt reached anywhere close to extending beyond the gasket sealed area, id say just leave it. if it is still sealed by the gasket, you wont leak any boost, and i think because the metal gets thicker as you move outward, the cracking pretty much stops.

OH, and one more thing, how much would it cost to get it fixed, if I decide to repair it?
