Results from 'Stage 1' Upgrade

So I just wanted to share my joy at finally getting some upgrades for my ride, and ask a couple of questions too!

Installed:

Upgraded fuel pump
Bonez high flow cat
Downpipe
RB Dual Tip Exhaust
Power FC
Adam C. Cheap Bastard Intake

Seth at Puresports Racing in Ramona, CA did the work. Went from 210 rwhp to 283 rwhp. Car starts, idles and runs flawlessly. Boost transition is no more noticeable. Boost runs a 12-9-12 pattern.

Questions:

The chassis feels a little overwhelmed with the added power. I have touring suspension and need to stiffen things up a bit, but I'd like to maintain as much ride quality as possible. Cheap, effective suggestions? Can I keep the springs and just stiffen the shocks? The car squats a little too much under power.

The RB exhaust combined with the high flow cat is louder than I would like. Anyway I can take this down a notch?

Considering the increased power, is an oil cooler necessary? The car is just street driven (although hard at times).

After adding a intercooler upgrade, will I basically be done? My goal is for the car to be a little faster than my '04 Vette (sold), that's all. It's not quite there yet.

Get a set of Eibach springs for the car and use the stock shocks. That's a great suspension setup, it will lower your car just a little and make the handling sharper, but still ride great.

More info on the Eibachs and an installation how-to:

That's a pretty quiet exhaust to start with. You may have trouble trying to get it much quieter. A presilencer added to the exhaust might be a solution.

Glad to hear it's running so well!

Looks like good numbers Sammy. An intercooler will be a nice addition. I agree with Dale about adding something to the exhaust. My choice would be to add a high flow muffler to the cat. My experience is that "straight thru" silencers don't do much.

Regarding the suspension, I like the ride of the stock suspension, but don't like the way the front lifts under acceleration. My solution was to get used to it . I'm not willing to make the car any stiffer. Perhaps an adjustable shock would be a good solution. Tokico makes a five way adjustable shock (Illumina) that may fit your needs.

Thanks for the advice chaps.

There's definitely something to be said for the stock suspension. I really love the fact that I'm not grounding out everywhere like in the 'Vette. Also there's something to be said for some suspension movement - it seems to make it much easier to tell when the car is getting close to the limit.

Good work by Seth!!! He's a great guy.

Regarding the suspension, you could get a set of Tein Coilovers. I have been in a 3rd gen with a set of Tein Flex coilovers and the ride was really good. It was as soft as stock when taking bumps and cruising on the highway. When it came to turns and launching, the thing was rock solid. WELL worth the money in my opinion....but that's just me.

He said he didnt want to spend too much money. I agree with you that coilovers are the ultimate way to go with suspension, but not if its just gonna be street driven. Just get upgraded springs, and shocks if you wish. Ive heard great things about people who went the upgraded springs/shock route.

Also, no need to upgrade to dual oil coolers. You pretty much only need to do that if you plan on tracking the car where it will experience high strain on the car for long periods at a time.
