Replacing Ignition Switch
I wanted to find out how hard it is to replace the ignition switch. Talked to Ray today and was going to order one. Could anyone tell me if they have replaced theirs and how much trouble was the replacement? I searched the site but found nothing on replacing the switch. The reason I'm replacing is because every since some kid that was washing the car at the body shop broke the key in the ignition. It thinks that the key is still in even when I have pulled it out. I can hit the keyhole with my fist and the "reminder buzzer" will go off, but this is too much of a hassle some times. I would just rather replace it.

I've replaced mine. IIRC:
Remove the column trim and unlug the wiring harnesses under the column. Remove the four bolts which mount the column and drop it. The ignition switch is mounted to the column with tamper proof screws; they are round with smooth, mushroom shaped heads. File or grind a slot in the heads of these screws and use a screwdriver to remove them. If you're really lucky you can grab them with small vice grips and they'll come loose without having to file them.
