Approx. on average when do you have to replace the engine, I'm new to this and looking for some help....thanks

 

it really depends on how well the car is taken care of...

 

If you are just buying the car...stock, as it was from just some guy who drove the car, and it has over 60,000 on it, and you have the money, change the motor.
It will save you a headache down the road, you can begin the foundation of any future progress or add-on goodies.

 

Unless you have wads of cash, there is absolutely no need to change the engine if it is working properly. Do a compression check (which you should have done when you bought the car) and it should give you an idea of how healthy the engine is. Spend some money on maintenance and reliability modifications and perhaps put some money into the bank for when it does die.

 

There is no set mileage as to when the engine is done. However, it will eventually happen no matter how good you take care of the engine. The seals will eventually wear down to the point were it can't make good compression, but that is typically a LOT of miles. Sadly, most turbo-charged rotary engines never make it that long; they typically fail long before that for one reason or another.

 

Exactly, the N/A motors can last well into 200k... the turbocharged motors, if maticulous car is followed and nothing beyond reliability mods are performed you will get 150k out of a turbocharged rotary, maybe more. Unfortunately most wont care for them or they make mistakes, etc....

My car had amazing wear patterns aside from my blowing a seal due to a fuel filter, the seals were barely worn from their 'new' spec. I didnt care for my motor as I should have, and due to a bad tune I lost mine. As long as you are careful you'll be okay.

instead of wasting money replacing a perfectly good engine, why don't you put some time into figuring out WHY engines blow.... replace the fuel filter, pd, upgrade the fuel pump, clean the injectors, etc etc etc before you waste money on what doesn't need to be done.
