Repairing Fuel Line
Hey guys, I was in the market for a 94 RX7, and this guy is selling one for 10000. It has a rebuilt with allegedly less than 5000 miles on it, and is street ported. However, the fuel line is leaking. How much would I anticipate to repair that if I were to purchase the car and does a street port effect the cars ability to pass smog? Thanks!

Do you mean it has a fuel leak? Or do you specifically know the fuel line is leaking?
Usually the primary injectors start leaking not the fuel lines themselves. If you did it yourself and bought new injectors I'd say your looking at about $500 in parts max. That includes doing a few "while your in there" items. Injectors alone would be $350 or so.
If you took it in to a shop it could be anywhere from $500-2000.

how come there is such a wide window in cost, according to the ad, it states that the fuel line is what is leaking, so would that be at the higher end if a shop were to do it?

It's pretty labor intensive to get down to the fuel injectors, and there's lots of little parts that may need to be replaced. The leak can be from any number of sources - injector o-rings, pulsation dampener, etc.
If you can do the work yourself, it shouldn't be too costly to get the leak fix. I'd be VERY hesitant to drive the car much if at all with the leak - MANY FD's with fuel leaks have turned into major engine fires, and that's the end of the car.
If you want an idea of what you could be in for, go here -

This guy replaced all the fuel lines, injector seals, had the injectors cleaned, and much more. Lots of pics and info documenting it. This is a pretty major job, but it's something if you take your time, label things, and go slow, it can be done well.
