Repacking wheel bearings?

Repacking wheel bearings?
I haev headr this is good to do evey once in a while. What is the deal? I have never done this before on a car. I cannot find info on it anywhere on the net either. Coudl someone tell me what teh procedure is??

Repacking bearings 101: class in session......
Remove the bearings from the drum/ rotor. Clean all the old grease out of the drum/rotor with a rag and some brake cleaner. Then do the same to the bearings. Either use compressed air, or just wait patiently untill everything is dry. Coat the insides of the rotor/drum where the bearings ride on with grease, don't fill that sucker up, but don't skimp either. Now to repack the bearings...
If you look at the bearing in your hand you will see an inner circle and an outer circle with a small maybe 1/8th space between the two where the bearings are seated. Get a big glob of grease and put it in your palm. Now take the bearing with the larger diameter side facing down and moosh that sucker into your greased palm. If you are doung it right after a few times you will see the grease acually start coming out of the sides of the bearings themselves. Once they are fully lubed, reassemble the whole thing, tighten the nut, not too tight!!!, and use a new cotter pin(if your application so requires)
