Removing weight from pinion flange ?

Has anyone Removed the weight ( dampener I'm guessing ) from the pinion flange ?

I have an auto trans car & have to put a manual pinion flange on the diff to solve some bolt pattern & length issues.

Am thinking about removing the large weight off the manual trans flange thats now going on the diff.

This will get rid of alot of weight, & the original auto flange never had the weight anyway.
Anybody removed the dampener weight before ?

Do the guys swapping manual trans into auto cars stitch to a pinion flange with the weight ? Or just leave the auto flange on the original diff ?
