Question Removing Boost Controller

Ok I've had my car running a boost controller on the Version 2. I want to remove the boost controller which means I have to reverse the order of my install like in the photo.

With regards to the two hoses with "pills" in them...is it essential to put these exact stock ones back on? Or can I just buy any old vacuum hose of the same length and slap it on?

I've had a look through them and I don't see anything different between those stock ones and the ones you can buy at the shops so whats the big fuss?

Boost controller removal

I would think that regular vac. hose would be fine as long as the ID is not so large that it allows the pills to move around or rotate and thus potentially cause a change in the "restriction" level.

Just out of interest, (as I am considering installing a boost controller), why are you removing yours?

Ok I'm confuse. Are these pills located inside those two stock hoses? Because I've looked through both those vacuum hoses and I see nothing that resembles a pill.

Reason why I'm removing it is because when I fitted my new motor I installed the boost controller straight away. Since then I've been getting perfect primary boost but no secondary. I just want to revert to the stock setup to see whether its my boost controller thats preventing the second turbo from coming online.

If you are getting perfect primary boost then the controller is working and you need to troubleshoot elsewhere.

Pills

As I understand it, with stock "boost control,'" (that is no specific separate boost controller), the pills, in some form, are mandatory. Earlier turbos have the pills in the stock hoses. Later turbos don't need the pills in the hoses because the turbo manifold, (to which the stock hoses are attached), is pre-drilled to the correct diameter to do the job of the pills.

I believe you have to remove the pills, (or, on the newer turbos, drill out the holes in the manifold), when you install a seperate boost controller. However, on returning to the stock setup. the pills must be present, (in the hose or as part of the turbo manifold), to allow the stock ECU to correctly control boost.

Gurus jump in.

You do not have to drill out the nipples to install a boost controller. The lines containing the pills would have both been removed during a boost controller install using "Method 2". The best solution to go back to stock is to swap the pills over to new hoses.

Good primary boost going down to zero = a control problem not a boost controller problem. Time to pop the UIM off.
