Removing Airpump
In a few days I'm going to put in a 3inch full exhaust (high flow cat) and was wondering if it's ok to remove the airpump. I know its ok to remove the airpump with midpipes but what about high flow cats? Also would removing the airpump eliminate that annoying "mooing" noise??
Thanks,
Joseph

please search for this and you will find a lot of answers. Simply put, some high flow cats need it and some don't. I'd contact the manufactuer and ask them. I contacted N-Tech and they told me that their cat does not need it.
It all depends really. If you're high flow cat dosn't have an air supply pipe coming off of it then no, you don't really need an air pump. However, some highflow cats need the air pump to keep from crapping out. It will not hurt your car to remove the air pump, but you'll need a pulley kit that is made to oliminate the air pump. For example, i bought the greddy pulley kit when i removed mine. As far as the mooing noise, it should get rid' of the sound. The only other thing i can think of is when you remove the air pump, you'll notice your car runs a little more rich than before, but nothing that will hurt it. Good luck.
See my signature, no airpump hookup, haven't had any problems with the catalytic convertor itself, but as a result from not hooking the airpump I think it resulted in my terrible idling, and also can affect your vacuum from what I hear. Also there is a good thread in the tech section above by mahjik.
