Remove the Hood Latch

So my hood latch cable is all broken and ghetto rigged so I can open it from the cabin. It's very annoying. I am thinking about just removing the entire latch assembly all together because I have hood pins. Is this a good idea?

the only con I see with doing this is theft prevention. Like anyone could open my hood if I do this.

A new latch assembly from Malloy Mazda was pretty inexpensive (IIRC, it was under $50 a few years back) and incredibly easy to install. You might just consider that option.

I dont need a new latch. My cable has been replaced and it just gets in the way all the time. For those that removed their latch, how do you open the hood if it is down all the way.
