reman engine/cpu question???
i took out my old cpu when i dropped my pfc in and discovered on the old cpu " remanufactured for mazda"
does it mean that i might have a reman engine or can all engines regardless can be controlled by a single ecu as long as it is stick or auto. i ask this b/c the last guy i bought the car from claims that the engine was replace under warranty. but when i called mazda with the vin they had told me that enginge work was done around 52,000 miles. they said there was no info about an engine replacement. what's the best way to check to see if the engine was replaced. sorry if it's too long. thanks in advance

You been had!!
I won't drill it to this guy but I woul have him tell me which dealership work on it and get the paperwork from them. Pretty rare that the information doesn't make it into the computer so I would tend to lead twords something fishy about the vehicles past.
I have been wrong before, but paperwork is good evidence, if it ain't there, chances are that something isn't right in China.

It's not easy to tell if an engine has been replaced or not. I would ask the guy about where it was done for proof. If you didn't have anyone to ask about it, then the best way (that I can think of) to find out if a dealer has replaced an engine, is to look for broken connectors. It seems that dealerships always break electrical connectors and MOP lines when they replace an engine, and do some cheap *** ghetto fix to them.
The ECU remanufacture thing, is from a recall on the original computers. It doesn't have anything to do with the engine.
