Registration help?!

Well, I might be starting up a business here soon. Me, my dad, and a bunch of people on the east coast might start up an import business. We would become an RI, but I was wondering, does anybody know that if you're an RI, are you legal to register your own cars? thanks guys, and please...don't bash on me or post comments that would make me feel stupid, i already know about the whole illegal import blah blah, just if anybody has any info in this subject. thanks again

You still have to deal with the cars passing Federal/DOT approval. i.e. if you wanted to import 96+ RX7's, you'll have to crash a few of them for DOT (like Motorex had to do for the Skyline). If they pass the crash standards, then they have to pass the others like lighting, emissions and others.

*IF* you get all that, then yes you can register the cars legally.

Technically yes. You'll have to visit the DOT site to find the requirements for automobiles. The question is what requirements will the cars will be subjected to? Obviously the DOT requirements have changed over the years so you'll have to talk to DOT to verify what the requirements are for the given year of the car you want to attempt to import:

Its not a cheap process which is why there aren't a lot of people doing it. This is also why Motorex charges a lot of money for their Skylines.
