Refurbishing Blower Motor Box
Don't have my parts fiche pdf's in front of me so forgive the most likely incorrect name for this part.
Long story short. As I've been looking through some pieces of my parts car, after nearly 17 years, a number of items have worn down. For instance, look at the material that is supposed to seal your door vents to the little elbow behind the door panel.
Well...I took a look at this part and it is even in worse condition...see attached photos.
I know for some of these areas you can pick up the foam sealant strips from Lowe's or Home Depot but the larger sections, what would you suggest to replace that material with?
All I can say is after looking at this part and cleaning out my own blower motor...it's no wonder so many of us have issues with our heating/cooling systems after 20yrs of degrading materials and junk clogging them up!

My wife's 03 VW Beetle has foam that shoots out of the defroster vents every now and again .
I'd hit up McMaster-Carr and see what you can find there. Most stuff has the temperature ratings and everything. I'd also be sure it can handle lower-end temps if you have AC working, AC air is *supposed* to be about 33-34 deg. F with a proper working system, that's pretty darn cold on things.
The one large plate that's covered in foam will probably have to be replaced by laying down multiple strips of foam. I doubt you'd find one piece that size.
Also, it doesn't necessarily have to be large cell foam like OEM, smaller foam rubber type sealing would probably work great.
