Rebuilt Transmission Problem
Rebuilt Transmission Problem
Happy Easter,
I just got back a transmission for a very reputable shop. I have less than 15 easy miles on the car. I started it up yesterday and was shifting from first to second gear and the transmission is now stuck in second and I can not move the shifter. The car runs and moves fine, the clutch engages and dis-engages but I can not get the shifter to budge out of second. Anyone had this issue in the past? What might be the cause? I have had no other problems with it until yesterday.

Most likely it's some sort of problem with the gear interlocks. I'd call the shop and explain your problem. The first words out of their mouth should be for you to bring the car in so they can check it out.
If I were doing it on my own I'd first pull the tail shaft housing. You can do this without removing the transmission from the car. This will let you see what the shift select spindles are doing. If there is no problem there then the transmission will most likely need to be removed and torn down once again.
